    As a 5'3" female motor coach driver, it wiykd be MOST HELPFUL if the parking break was next to, and on the right side if, the driver's seat. So many Van Hools I've driven is in such an awkward spot, plus I have shorter arms than men do, that I sometimes have had trouble getting the leverage to engage the parking break. It's too far away, and too low. I miss the old MCI days when the parking break was on the right side of the driver's seat in a small console. You could

      I didn't get to finish my comment. I meant release the parking break in a Van Hool, not engage. And in the old MCIs, you could use your weight to help release the parking break because it was right ne t to you. I liked the toggle switches in the Old MCIs too... and the horn was a floor button, which was way better too. Also, ALL motor coaches should have a plexiglass panel, that goes all the way to the ceiling, behind the driver so guest won't be able to cough and sneeze on the back of the driver's head!!! Can't tell you how many colds I got from sick guests... causing me to have to lose work hours from calling in sick. It's especially true when you drive hundreds of guests a day from an airport out to theme park resorts. Just sayin'. We need WOMEN, with motor coach driving experience, to design the driver's compartment of motor coaches. Most coaches seem to be designed for 6 foot tall men. Hint: NOT all motor coach drivers are 6 ft tall men. So, ABC, feel free to pass these comments on to Van Hool. FYI, I am one of the few women in the country that started driving motor coaches in the mid 1980s (up in New England and New York). Back then, I never saw another female coach driver in those early years. I used to hear tractor trailer drivers, on my CB radio, say to other drivers, "hey.... there's a chic driving that tour bus!" Even had another coach driver, in Manhattan, get on my couch and start yelling at me for sitting in the driver's seat and demanding to know where my driver was! I told him, "I AM the driver. Now get the hell off of my coach!" I also made WAY MORE in tips, back in the 1980s, because guests weren't used to having a female coach driver and were impressed at how well I drove the coach. Another hint: gender has NOTHING to do with how well you drive. Again, just sayin'. 😊

    The only way this will improve is they will standardize these charging stations so you can use one type for all vehicles or at least adapters. Then get rid of those useless gravel islands. There’s no vegetation in those just ugly gravel.

    so no unload/load tag feature like in prior models? also you got rid of the bus lowering? Can only raise now and lower other than kneeling? Also why is the right driver side mirror obstructed by that side window bar in the middle? seems like a design flaw

      I’m not a fan of BEV’s but unless you test it, you’re not gonna know. That trip proved that it’s better suited for short line runs within its range or day trip charters.

    So they stopped 100 times to charge in six days 'non stop' and probably had two drivers switching off... With a 676kwh battery they should be able to super charge at a high rate... Too bad no one actually got to travel from Florida to California...still an impressive vehicle...

    260 miles of range seems TERRIBLE when compared to the over 650 of a diesel coach. How is that 260 affected when keeping the AC/heat running since coaches do alot of idling. Is it safe to charge when fully loaded with passengers? Theres rules against fueling a diesel with passengers on board.

      they did not provide any data on 260miles per charge, there is a very high chance it will be even lower once the bus is fully packed and HVAC on full blast until they share more information assuming 260miles/ charge is the final number after the bus is fully loaded, then this is a great achievement for current times, but battery tech still has a long path to mature to compete with diesel buses and they will surely die a slow death when more charging stations pop up on highways and it will be a no brainer to buy an electric bus as it will be super cheap to operate every new technology will take a lot of time to improve and it is based on demand from people, so this transition will surely take at least 2 decades to figure out stuff and implement it as fast as possible

In the northern states in the winter time it will make 100 miles max! It's not good for cross country trips!!!

    I have a question. Why are the luggage bay framing and framing coated with grey thin paint on the t series and the XX is bare ? Also why are there holes punched on the bottom of the vertical tube frame in the luggage bays and under the coach. Thanks. Oh gorgeous bus.

    For The last 5 years from 2010 to 2016 I traveled every summer up north to Tacoma Washington to work and came back by Greyhound to Las Vegas for the Winters never had a problem with Greyhound

    I drove buses for 30 years on charters and tours throughout the Western USA. This is one nice coach, but must admit that a few things don't look all that great. My personal preference is NOT to have multi-function controls such as that stalk on the left of the steering column. Since 'way back in the MC-9 days, the turn signals were operated by floor buttons, freeing the driver's hands for maneuvering. This control is a step backwards. Also, the dash instrumentation seems poor compared to newer Prevost and MCI models. It just has a dull look, although it is fairly complete. Finally, I'd prefer those switches to be larger and with labels under them in English, instead of trying to decipher and remember obscure symbols. All in all it is a great looking coach.

      The dashboards of the new EU spec Van Hool coaches are a lot nicer, not sure why. Maybe this is something bus companies in the US care less about, and they would rather have slightly cheaper coaches than a nicer dashboard? Or maybe regulations in the US won't allow Van Hool to use the EU spec dashboards in the US for some reason? About the symbols vs. text in English: Van Hool is a Belgian company, and it's designers are used to designing vehicles for European markets. As people in the EU don't all speak the same language, vehicles in the EU very rarely have buttons labelled with text in any language, because even if you could make different versions in different languages, this would still hurt resale value as it would mean you could only sell your coach to companies who's drivers speak the same language as the one the bus is labelled in. The same goes for European cars, buttons have symbols, not text. America is the exception here, being one of the rare countries where most buttons are labelled with text. Also, in Europe those symbols aren't so obscure as the different companies use near identical symbols for most things, so once you learn the symbols in one brand of coach, you don't have much trouble getting into another.

One of the reasons the US buses have simplified controls is that they rarely are operated by one driver who can learn all the systems. The bus may be operated by a tall man one day, a short female the next. All controls must be familiar and reachable by all. The other problem is that most industries in the USA, including bus builders and operators, are resistant to change. European-designed buses never sold well here; both the Neoplans and Van Hools sold here today have "American-style" instrumentation and features. There are some instrument panels in buses by Prevost Car (Canada) that have both European design and text-labeled switches and warning lights. The USA is one of the only countries in the world today that has not fully switched over to Metric measurements... in spite of many changes in industries now using metric fasteners, we still measure speed in miles-per-hour, our (American) football fields in yards, and our fuel in gallons. We need to catch up or get left behind!
